Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam plans to grow Sandalwood Trees in hills of Tirupati around 30 acres. These sandalwoods will be made into paste and used for Lord Balaji Rituals, also it will be given to devotees.
TTD plans to grow sandalwood trees of worth 10 crores in next 15 years. Already TTD has been using nearly 80kgs of sandalwood paste every year for the purpose of Lord Balaji Pujas and Srivari Theertham to devotees. TTD have been purchasing sandalwood from neighbouring districts like Karnataka and Tamilnadu every year.
Right now, sandalwoods have been stored in Govindaraja swami temple at Tirupati with all safety precautions. Tirupati Tirumala Hills are well suitable for cultivation of Sandalwood trees. TTD will arrange proper fencing around this newly cultivating sandalwood trees. It will take nearly 20 years for the complete growth of sandalwood trees, worth will be around crores.
