Padmavathi Temple - Tiruchanoor

The state of Andhra Pradesh holds the honour of housing the well-known Padmavathi Temple. The gorgeous wife of Lord Venkateswara, Goddess Padmavathi (Alamelumanga), was the inspiration for the temple's priceless construction. The temple is five kilometres from Tirupati in Tiruchanoor.

According to legend, Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy must perform 12 decades of penance before he can see Goddess Padmavathi. In Padma Sarovar Lake, Sri Padmavathi manifested herself as a massive Red Lotus bloom. Pilgrims refer to the lotus flower as Padmavathi Amma. The Goddess, also known as Alamelu Manga in Telugu.
